Was this listing photo edited?

Drop in any photo, from Duskly or anywhere else, and see the provenance marks it carries. Many edited photos carry none, so a clean result never means unedited.

Features

What you get back

Not just an altered JPEG.

Duskly watermark

Reads the invisible mark some Duskly files carry in their pixels. It survives JPEG re-compression, resizing and minor cropping, so it usually outlives the metadata.

IPTC digital source type

The field Google and Meta actually consume. Reports whether an image declares itself a camera capture, a generative edit of a photograph, or nothing at all.

C2PA container

Flags JPEG APP11 segments that may contain provenance data. It does not parse or validate C2PA manifests, signatures or signer trust.

Honest about limits

A clean result never says "this image is real". It says we found no marks, which is a different claim, and the only one the evidence supports.

Nothing is stored

The image is read in the request and discarded. No account, no upload history, no quota.

Damaged marks still report

Heavy cropping can destroy the payload while leaving the mark detectable. We report presence and payload separately rather than failing silently.

What this check can and cannot tell you

It works on any JPEG or PNG, whoever edited it. It can tell you:

  • whether the pixels carry a Duskly watermark
  • for a JPEG, what its IPTC digital source type declares: a camera capture, or content generated or altered by AI
  • whether a JPEG has an APP11 segment, which may hold C2PA provenance data

It cannot tell you:

  • whether a photo with no marks was edited. Many edits leave no mark, and marks can be stripped.
  • whether a C2PA signature is valid, or who signed it. No signature, signer or trust chain is checked.
  • anything from PNG metadata, which is not read.
  • that a full-size Duskly download came from Duskly. Those are the provider's file, with no Duskly watermark, and Duskly does not sign C2PA manifests.

The result is a limited inspection report, not a certificate of authenticity or compliance. To see what a listed property really looks like, use the link to the original next to the photo's disclosure, or ask the listing agent.

FAQ

Questions worth asking

No, and we will never say that it does. It means we found none of our marks. Another tool may have edited the image, and marks can be stripped by re-encoding or deliberate removal. Absence of a mark is not evidence of authenticity.

It can report supported JPEG metadata and legacy Duskly pixel watermarks. It does not detect every provider watermark or verify C2PA signatures. PNG metadata is not inspected. Provider-original Duskly downloads may have no detectable Duskly mark.

The Code of Practice requires a publicly accessible detection facility, and a paywalled "is this AI?" check would defeat its purpose. It is also the one page where you can test our claims instead of reading them.

No. It is read to answer the question and then discarded. There is no account, no history and no quota.

Our watermark carries a magic word and an opaque reference. Heavy cropping or aggressive re-compression can corrupt the reference while leaving the magic word readable, so we can still tell you the image is marked even when we cannot identify which edit produced it.
